“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things.” Romans 10:15

The purpose of the Women’s Ministry is to bring our women together as we seek to grow in our knowledge and love for the Lord. Our goal is to reach out in our community to share the gospel, to lend a hand, and to give encouragement.

Women’s Ministry Opportunities

These are evangelistic opportunities, as well as opportunities for growth throughout the year.

Sisters of Grace

Sisters of Grace is a woman-to-woman ministry of caring and sharing with another sister in Christ so that we could become one in spirit through the love and grace of God. Women are matched with a sister in Christ to grow in relationship with for one year.

Flower Ministry

Led by Tommy Bender, the FBC Flower Ministry was established in 2004, whereby the flowers used in the church on Sunday are put into bud vases on Monday and delivered to members in hospitals, nursing homes, and individual homes of those who are unable to attend church due to health conditions. We also take flowers on occasions of sympathy and new babies.

Precept Ministry

Correct observation leads to correct application of the Word, and the Holy Spirit makes the Word fresh, new and alive to all of us. The Precept study at FBC is open to our ladies as well as those from other churches. This gives us the opportunity to encourage women who have no church home to become involved in our church. We are blessed to have a women’s ministry that places great emphasis on studying God’s Word.  This ministry is led by Dorris Slappey.

Healing Hearts Ministry

Led by Jean Jordan, Healing Hearts is a vital part of the Women’s Ministry. Our purpose is to minister to women who have lost their husbands in death. We visit them in their homes and give them a basket of items containing scripture to help them through their grief. We want them to know they are loved. We try to meet at least every other month for lunch and have a special speaker or devotion and a special time of fellowship.

Martha’s Ministry

Led by Nell Moss, The purpose of Martha’s Ministry is to provide meals to the First Baptist Church family in time of loss (death) of immediate family. This includes spouse, child, and parents who are not members of another church.

Women’s Missionary Union

Led by Sue Quinn, the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) of First Baptist Church is affiliated with the National WMU and the Alabama WMU. WMU has played a vital role in the missionary efforts of First Baptist for many years.

Our WMU supports the Green Springs Ministry to assist needy families with food and school supplies, as well the Mississippi River Ministry to supply back packs for children and teenagers.

WMU meets for Bible Study on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 10:00am in Room G27.
